Saxophone Lessons
Saxophone lessons with me offer you a fun, structured, and creatively engaging way to grow as a musician. Drawing on my contemporary classical background and wide‑ranging artistic collaborations, I tailor each lesson to your goals—whether you want to build technique and musicianship skills, get extra support with school band music, or prepare for Royal Conservatory of Music exams or university auditions. I combine clear guidance with genuine enthusiasm, helping you develop confidence, strong habits, and expressive musicality. With a focus on curiosity, communication, and joyful music‑making, I create a space where you can grow steadily and meaningfully on the saxophone.
-
As your teacher, I will help you discover a love of the saxophone and develop fluency in the language of music so you can express ideas and emotions that go beyond words. I will bring an engaging, supportive, and structured approach to every lesson, creating an environment where you feel confident and challenged in the right ways. Your lessons will be tailored to your individual needs—whether that involves musicianship and ear‑training, theory and history, instrument technique, preparation for exams and performances, or support with school music studies. My role is to help you build strong habits, develop solid technique, and grow steadily with clear communication and thoughtful instruction that adapts as you do, ultimately supporting your ability to express musicality through the saxophone.

Students are expected to attend lessons prepared, engaged, and committed to steady progress. Regular practice between lessons is essential; without it, we can’t build the skills or momentum needed for meaningful growth. If a student is consistently unprepared or shows a lack of commitment to practicing, lessons may be discontinued so the time can be offered to someone ready to participate fully in the learning process.
-
Students are expected to attend each lesson with the following materials:
a well‑maintained saxophone,
saxophone cleaning supplies,
working reeds,
all required method books and music repertoire,
a music stand,
a pencil,
a lesson notebook to track progress and practice assignments (provided at no cost)
A list of recommended materials—such as reed brand/strength, method books, and accessories—will be provided based on the student’s level and goals.
-
Before beginning lessons, I offer a complimentary 30‑minute consultation to get to know the student, discuss goals, assess their current level, and ensure that my teaching approach is a good fit.
Lesson rates are $60 per hour or $30 per half‑hour. Invoices can be provided at the final lesson of the month or, if you prefer, following each lesson. Books and other instrument gear—such as reeds and cleaning supplies—are not included in the lesson fee. I’m happy to pick up any required materials for you and add the cost to your invoice, or, if you’d rather purchase them yourself, I can provide a list of exactly what you’ll need.
Payments can be made by cash or e-Transfer (auto-deposit).

Students are encouraged to schedule weekly lessons, though bi‑weekly or monthly lessons are available if desired. Meeting weekly provides the most consistent reinforcement of skills, helps build healthy practice habits, and ensures concepts are learned correctly before they have a chance to slip or become confusing.
Please choose a lesson time you feel confident you can commit to. The fees you pay reserve an exclusive weekly time in my schedule. Unlike a doctor or a hairdresser, I cannot resell that time or create additional teaching hours to accommodate missed lessons.
Students who arrive late may, in some cases, still receive their full lesson time if my schedule allows; however, if this is not possible, the lesson will end at the scheduled time and will still be charged in full.
-
If I need to cancel a lesson, I will always do my best to provide more than 24 hours’ notice, and you will not be charged for the missed lesson. Because I do not have availability to offer make‑up lessons, if you need to cancel a lesson with more than 24 hours’ notice, you will not be charged, and we will simply resume at your next scheduled lesson time. Any lessons you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice—or any ‘no‑shows’—will be charged in full.
I reserve the right to discontinue lessons in situations where a student is repeatedly unprepared, shows a consistent lack of practice or engagement, has ongoing scheduling conflicts, or has unpaid fees. In such cases, I will communicate concerns in advance and give the student or family an opportunity to address the issue. Students or parents may also choose to discontinue lessons at any time with more than 24 hours’ notice. My goal is always to maintain a positive, productive learning environment where students can thrive.
